Structured XML documents and the Peppol network enable automated electronic B2B or B2G message exchange internationally. This saves companies and public authorities significant manual effort, reduces media breaks and minimizes potentially hard to identify data entry errors.
At the same time, however, a large number of different regulations and technical format and protocol specifications have been, and are being, introduced on a mandatory basis internationally, particularly in the field of e-invoicing. These include, for example, FatturaPA in Italy and XRechnung in Germany (the current implementation status in Germany can be found here – the article is in German). Peppol is not all Peppol. Although UBL is used equally in Europe and in Australia via Peppol, there are nevertheless small differences in format.
Since XML documents are now only machine-readable (in contrast to a PDF invoice, for example), each individual document must be created and sent one hundred percent correctly. This is the only way to ensure receipt and above all legal compliance. With so many different specifications and country-specific differences this is no easy task.

Which XML documents can be validated?
