Discover why Brückner Group turned to ecosio and Vertex to optimise its global compliance processes

About Brückner

The Brückner Group is a leading global group specialising in engineering, services, and mechanical engineering for processing plastics and alternative materials. Headquartered in Germany and employing around 2,900 people worldwide, the Brückner Group provides innovative technological solutions with a global focus. Industries across the world use Brückner Group systems and machinery to produce everyday items such as fresh food packaging, film components for e-mobility batteries, and tubes for toothpaste and cosmetics.

Initial situation

To meet growing regulatory requirements and the increasing importance of e-invoicing, the Brückner Group partnered with ecosio and Vertex to implement a standardised, future-proof, and global solution across the organisation.

The solution needed to accommodate various invoice receipt channels, including email, transmission networks, EDI connections, and state invoice portals, as well as state validation servers in certain countries. At the same time, regulatory reporting obligations for individual invoice content had to be consistently met from a centralised database.

Sarah Abraham, Project Manager for Tax Technology Projects at the Brückner Group, discusses the challenges and benefits of the joint solution from ecosio and Vertex, delivered through Vertex e-Invoicing. “We wanted to ensure that we not only comply with e-invoicing regulations but also create more efficient processes for the future,” explains Sarah Abraham. Before working with ecosio and Vertex, the Brückner Group’s e-invoicing processes were highly fragmented. When a regional subsidiary requested a legally compliant e-invoicing solution for 2024, it became clear that a group-wide standardisation was necessary.

Why ecosio and Vertex were chosen

The Brückner Group selected ecosio and Vertex’s joint solution following a structured evaluation process involving multiple providers. The integration of Vertex e-Invoicing was particularly appealing, as Brückner already benefits from the advantages of the Vertex Tax Engine. Plus, Brückner was also impressed by the availability and expertise of ecosio’s e-invoicing experts. As Sarah Abraham noted, “The trust and transparency demonstrated by ecosio and Vertex from the outset were exemplary. Every question was answered promptly, and we always felt valued.”

Project process

The e-invoicing project began in 2024 with the design phase and is currently in the implementation stage, with a planned go-live in the near future. Weekly project meetings and ongoing technical coordination ensure a structured and efficient approach. “We were impressed by the team’s professionalism and methodical approach. We have managed many projects in the past, but this one truly stands out.” says Abraham.

Beyond the technical implementation, the Brückner Group places great importance on a strong, collaborative partnership throughout the project.

"The ecosio team treats us as equals. It is great fun to work with them and you can feel that they are genuinely interested in a long-term partnership."

Result: increased efficiency and future-proofing

With the new solution from ecosio and Vertex, the Brückner Group anticipates significant efficiency gains, with substantial cost-saving potential already identified during the pilot phase. For instance, one business unit, which processes approximately 34,000 incoming invoices per year, aims to automate 70% of them—dramatically reducing the workload for internal teams. “We see enormous digitalisation potential in e-invoicing, enabling us to future-proof our operations while ensuring compliance with legal requirements,” emphasises Abraham.

Another key benefit is the reduction of data redundancies. The deeply integrated e-invoicing solution provides the Brückner Group with a centralised platform for e-invoicing processing and tax compliance—an essential step in preparing for the forthcoming real-time reporting obligations to tax authorities across various countries.

A clear commitment to partnership

When asked whether she would recommend ecosio and Vertex to others who want to simplify their e-invoicing systems and processes, Sarah Abraham gives a clear answer: “Yes, absolutely! The ecosio team’s professional and collaborative approach convinced us that they were definitely the right partner for our e-invoicing transformation.”

The Brückner Group plans to further strengthen its collaboration with ecosio and Vertex in the future, ensuring it remains at the forefront of new developments. The combination of technical expertise, structured project management, and a cooperative approach has demonstrated that efficiency and innovation thrive in a strong partnership.
