To assess the compatibility of SAP components it is important to know the installed SAP ERP software version. Should you not be a SAP Base Administrator and have this information at hand, you may also determine the software version via the SAP GUI (Graphical User Interface).
Please see our brief instructions below.
Determining the SAP version number
To find the SAP version number, open the SAP GUI and select “Status” in the menu.
Then click on the zoom button.
Depending on the SAP version, details may be shown in different ways. Where a specific “Installed product version” tab exists, this tab will show details about the version of the system.
Where no tab exists, the version may be obtained by inspection of the two SAP_BASIS and SAP_APPL types.
A SAP_BASE type
740 indicates a SAP Netweaver Server Version 7 with EHP 4.
A SAP_APPL type
617 indicates a SAP ERP 6.0 with EHP7. A digit 1 indicates that the system is running on HANA.
